The
“At
A
Glance”
Identifying
System;
is a simple system that allows you to look out at your kid pen
and be able identify who the dam and sire is on each of your kids (At
A Glance). You will also be able
to identify traits (desirable or not so desirable) that are coming from
the sire or dam line. You simply
assign a color or combination of colors to each of the dams and then
assign each sire a chain
or tag color. The colored chain is held together with a small cable
ties (4”) allowing you to use 1, 2, 3,
or how ever many colors needed to identify the dam and/or sire of your
kids, you then use a traditional
connector (We waited a long time for these to be back in stock … now we
know where the saying
of a “slow boat to/from China comes from) to put the collar on the kid
We feel our aluminum military-type dog tags are a great way to identify
the sire; you may also engrave the kid’s name on one side of
the tag with the tattoo information on the flip side; these tags are
light weight yet sturdy enough to
last through an adult life of wear. This is an easy, marvelous
management tool to ID traits or rate of
gain (for the meat producers) coming from a sire or a dam and to tell
visitors who each kid is sired by
and out of, just by the color ID (you can also code which kids are for
sale). This system is limited in it’s
usage only by your own imagination. We would be happy to help you

When using this system with Boer Goats, remember to leave a “tail” of
chain to adjust for
their rapid growth.
