Inbreeding paid off with this doe!  Honey Dew was a genetic powerhouse.  She continues to reproduce herself.  One of her daughters is GCH T*C DD Honey Comb was the first place Milking Yearling at the '02 Nationals, first place 2 year old at the '03 Nationals and 4th place 4 year old at the '05 Nationals.

Honey Dew is an accident looking to happen; she had gotten into so much trouble and seems to always come out on the short end.  The latest was when she broke her front leg; the leg was set and cast, the cast slipped and the leg healed bent so she could not walk on her hoof.  It took 4 ½ hours of orthopedic surgery to pin the leg and get the hoof so it is flat on the ground, but the leg is still bent.   Honey Dew was correct in General Appearance; her mammary system could not have had any more area of attachment.

The only picture I have of Honey Dew (due to all of her accidents) is  one at 6 years old, where she was standing in the kidding pen area; I have included that picture so you can get an idea of what she is like.

Clown was a spoiled rotten kid who took my heart and ran with it.  It sure is nice when you fall in love with a kid that turns out as Clown has ... I  have to watch I don’t expound on her attributes too much; so I’m going to allow her appraisal score to tell you what she is like.  Clown will be bred to:

Like so many of the “Mac” daughters, Tracks was slow to mature; once she did she looked just as her pedigree said she should. Shown very little,  Tracks has one milking leg, going grand at the Gold Country DGA show. Unfortunately in '08 Tracks freshened with a horrible case of mastitis (this after being dry in ’07) and she will never be able to be shown again. As bad as I feel that she will not have a milk record or finish her championship, which she well deserves, her worth is in her outstanding offspring (see Cat A Piller in this site).  I'm just happy that Tracks is healthy!

I have loved Twilight from that time she was a baby; she was kept as a dry yearling. When she freshened all you could say was WOW!  Elegance, style & grace describe Twilight; she easily finished her championship early in the show season as a first freshening two year old.  Pictured here as a two year old (top) and a 5 year old  with very little milk (bottom).

Please note:
Of the 16 does listed in the ADGA genetics pedigree (including Twilight) 14 are either SGCH  or GCH … the two that are not champions have produced champion daughters. Eleven of the does named have final scores of Excellent with 90 -93 (a few of the does in the pedigree had not been appraised).

Cat-A-Piller was a very impressive kid who freshened with an impressive mammary system; seal in color long and tall with lots of bone, a wide flat rump and beautiful feet and legs.  Cat-A-Piller thinks she owns me; if any of the other does come up to me while I'm in the pen, her hackles go up and she gives them a "what for".  Her possessive nature of me has earned her the nick name of “Pill”.  Pill was the first place 3 year old with first udder at the '09 Western Idaho Fair where approximately 640 does where shown ... there were 64 LM milkers shown in the regular classes with an additional 4 Champion Challengers.  Pill's class was very large with strong competition; she was also part of our first place Sr. Get of Sire, first place Best Three Females and our 2nd place Dairy Herd.   Pill will be bred to:

Quill is  one of my favorites! She freshened in May as a yearling and was dried up soon after freshening so that she could grow.  Quill is still “hot doggie”, but I feel she is going to be a knock out when she matures and deepens.  Only shown once in '08, Quill was 2nd with 2nd udder (10 in the class with 44 Senior LMs shown).  Again we only attended one show last year (the Western Idaho Fair)  where she was 3rd place 3 year old with second udder in a very large class (total number LM shown in regular classes was 64) Quill was also part of our first place Sr. Get of Sire, first place Best Three Females and our 2nd place Dairy Herd.   Quill will be bred to:

Take A Bow has done just that since she freshened ... actually she has taken several bows; once she freshened, she just started to bloom.  “Wow” is a term I have heard several times from those who have seen her.  This doe is so calm and easy to handle in the show ring and the milk room. Bow is again on the "Elite Doe" list.

As I have stated several times (regarding some of the other does); the girls only attended one show last year, that being the Western Idaho Fair in late August.  There were approximately 640 does shown.  The LaMancha numbers were 64 milkers shown in regular classes with an additional 4 champion challengers.  Bow was the first place two year old with first udder, she then went on to become the Grand Champion.  In the CC class Bow was third behind two 6 year old does, but was given first udder in that class and then was awarded Best Udder of Breed.  Bow was also part of our first place Senior Get of Sire, first place Best Three Females, first place Dam and Daughter ( Tribby and Bow) and second place Dairy Herd ... all of these group classes had a large amount of entries.

UPDATE ON BOW:  Bow unfortunately became very ill close to kidding; long-story-short she was checking out (temp was down to 94).  Thankfully she recovered, but had to have a complete mastectomy.  The only thing I prayed for during this ordeal was that Bow live; prayers are heard and sometimes answered as they were this time.

Bow will be bred to:

"D.Q." was one of those kids that caught your eye; she is long and level with lots of femininity and dairy character.  Now that she is fresh with an impressive mammary system (you couldn't ask for more area of attachment!) she will really make some heads turn ...I’m am expecting her to be a real knockout when she matures.   D.Q. placed 7th in a very large class of yearlings at the Western Idaho Fair.

UPDATE:
D.Q. is maturing just I had hoped she would ... this doe is going to be a force to recon with as she matures.  Basically the only thing I would change on D.Q. is to bring her teats in more; they are set wide apart, but they sure are plumb.

DQ will be bred to:

I cannot thank Pam Haney of Royal Blue enough for "Choice".  Unfortunately Pam and her family had to make a major move which meant the herd would have to be dispersed and done so quickly.  When looking at what Pam had available I spotted the pedigree on Choice and was excited to see that she was linebred on Brazil whose lines I greatly appreciate.  Choice is a real sweetheart; she is growing like a weed and I am thrilled that she could join the herd.
